Signs You Should Not Ignore in Abdominal Pain

Almost everyone experiences abdominal pain at some point. While many cases are due to simple problems like indigestion, gas, or minor infections, some abdominal pains can be a warning sign of serious disease. Ignoring them or taking only painkillers can delay proper treatment and increase risks.


 


Here are the important signs of abdominal pain you should never ignore:


 


1.Sudden Severe Pain


 Pain that comes on suddenly and is very intense may signal conditions like appendicitis, gallstone attack, perforated ulcer, or pancreatitis.


Such pain needs immediate medical attention.


 


2. Pain with Fever and Vomiting


Abdominal pain associated with high fever, persistent vomiting, or chills may suggest infection (appendicitis, gall bladder infection, urinary infection).


Do not wait—consult a doctor.


 


3.Pain with Blood in Vomit or Stool


Vomiting blood, black/tarry stools, or fresh red blood in stool are danger signs.


Possible causes include bleeding ulcer, intestinal infection, or colorectal disease.

10.Pain That Radiates to Chest, Shoulder, or Back


Gallstones, pancreatitis, or even heart disease can present as pain radiating to these areas.
